Visit the Rafa Nadal Academy in Manacor and prepare to be wowed by this new world class sports academy. You might be mistaken into thinking this is all about tennis with 26 courts on offer, but you would be wrong. This a sports academy in the true sense of the word. A place to train and improve not just in one sport but in a range of sports. Open year round this is a centre of sporting excellence with the possibility of a little relaxation, but more about that later.
So pop on those trainers and let´s tell you what is on offer. Starting with tennis.
The tennis programmes are split into children and adults tuition. For youth training there is a separate complex which offers individual or group tennis coaching on a weekly, monthly, summer or annual basis. In addition, the American International School of Mallorca is located on campus so that studies can continue during annual (or longer term) coaching programmes. The accommodation for the students is provided on campus.
For adults, weekly tennis camps are offered on an individual or group basis. If you are on a residential course then accommodation is provided in 66 slick and modern bedrooms which are booked either as bed and breakfast or half board.
In addition to tennis, training programmes are offered for cycling, running and triathlon with some of the best qualified coaches in the business. There is also padel training and one outdoor swimming pool and two indoor heated pools.
On site you will also find an exclusive sports clinic staffed by a team of specialised physiotherapists and doctors.
The Academy even has a nutrition programme where a balanced diet is devised for individuals to help improve their performances and prevent injuries.
Open to residents and non residents, there is a café and restaurant in a perfect position to offer commanding views over the whole complex.
Time for a little relaxation? Then head to the wellness and spa area. Complete with two treatment rooms and an extensive spa treatment menu, this very slick and modern concrete and resin spa with it´s hydrothermal circuit is a must.
The Academy is an amazing facility and Rafa should be rightly proud not just about the calibre of the coaching on offer but also about the magnificent campus he has built in his home town. When he is not on the tennis circuit, he can be found training hard on one of the clay courts giving inspiration to the next generation of grand slam winners.
Oh I nearly forgot! There is also a Museum about the man himself with his trophies and medals on show as well as a gift shop to take a memory home.
So if you are a sporting aficionado, you must pay a visit. Better still, book yourself a week´s training and be coached by some of the best in the world.
