Hotel Creu de Tau Art and Spa is a very special addition to the collection of luxury hotels on Mallorca. Situated in Capdepera in the far north east of Majorca, the owners have worked tirelessly to convert this 19th century convent and adjacent theatre into a luxury boutique hotel and what an impressive job they have done.
Capdepera, built in the reign of King Jaume II as a fortress town, has its hill-top castle still intact and can be admired from the hotel´s pool terrace as well as many of the rooms and suites.
Hotel Creu de Tau Art and Spa sandstone facade blends in seamlessly with its historical landscape and makes a striking first impression. There is a wonderful feeling of space throughout the hotel´s public areas, which are adorned with an extensive art collection of paintings, sculptures and photographs from both local and international artists, all of which are for sale.
The bedrooms at this adults-only hotel are set over two floors. As with most historic buildings, they vary in size and layout but have all been tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. Marès stone floors and beamed ceilings are complimented with muted tones and accent pieces of furniture. Cati Soler, the interior designer, has an excellent eye for what works well. Rooms are high-tech with touch screens for climate control, Bluetooth systems, and smart lighting.
Choose one of the three Royal Suites and you could while away a few hours on your private terrace and enjoy stunning views of the Castell and Menorca beyond.
There are two pools at Hotel Creu de Tau, one outside surrounded by Bali beds and offering those memorable views of Capdepera and one indoors in the very special spa area.
The hotel’s restaurant, Cova Negra, under the watchful eye of chef Pablo Tamarit from Valencia, is already proving very popular locally and with guests. Having honed his skills at Lima’s Astrid & Gastón, one of Latins America´s best restaurants, and more recently at award winning Can Simoneta Hotel in Canyamel, you are guaranteed a superb dining experience.
There’s a footbridge that connects the top floor of the hotel directly to the hillside gardens, which lead straight to the swimming pool area.
Relax, eat, enjoy the spa, the stroll into Capdepera or visit the beautiful beach of Cala Aguila just 10 minutes away. The choice is yours.

Something Different
How to incorporate a chapel from the covent into a new four star luxury hotel ? Why not make it the bar. Of course !
This high ceiling chapel has been imaginatively re configured into a cool bar area with the original sanctuary area behind what would have been the altar now stocking a supply of spirits and mixers expertly made to into your favourite signature cocktail.
What's Special
The spa area at Creu de Tau is set beneath a vaulted ceiling, complete with an 11 metre heated pool cleverly offering a straight line of sight towards the pool as you reach the spa area on the lower ground floor. It really takes your breath away.
Each of the original stained glass windows have been replaced with a new modern take on coloured glass. This has to be one of the best appointed hotel spas on the island.
