Bike hire in Palma is easy. Mallorca is widely regarded as a cyclist’s paradise, and with good reason. Many of the world’s top professional cycling teams hold training camps here through the cooler months and the roads have been described as ‘like a scalextric track for bicycles’. But you don’t need to shop lycra just yet to cycle in Palma.
Hire a bike for a half day or full day. Most companies offer children’s bikes and tag-a-long bikes for hire. Palma is made for cycling with plenty of little narrow streets and very little traffic in the Old Town. Venture out of the city and along the seafront where there is a purpose built cycle path and wide promenade along the Bay of Palma.
Cycle east along the seafront to Playa de Palma (approx 6 miles) passing through the little harbour of Portixol with its lively cafés and old fishing port to the pretty beach of Cuitat Jardin.
Heading west you can cycle from Es Baluard city walls, past the hundreds of yachts bobbing in the harbour to the Marivent Palace (the King of Spain’s Palma residence) . Stop along the way to take pictures and of course for a refreshment or two.
The Bicipalma scheme allows both residents and visitors over the age of 16 years access to around 300 bicycles. There is a Mobipalma app to make it easy to check where there are bikes available.
There are also numerous bike hire shops, Palma on Bike in Paseo Marítimo if, for example, you need different sized bikes for children.
So pop your helmet on and get cycling around wonderful city of Palma.
