El Llorenç Parc de la Mar
Striking five star El Llorenç Parc de la Mar is located in a gloriously tranquil spot adjacent to Palma’s old city walls and overlooking the Bay. On the edge of the historic quarter, this neighbourhood of La Calatrava is one of the oldest in Palma.
Swedish designer Magnus Ehrland tapped into the history of the area and imaginatively incorporated the Moorish influence of geometric motifs throughout the hotel in celebration of its location. Dark wood lattice-work, tiling detailing Arabic stars and walnut parquet floors blend seamlessly with the hotel’s mix of contemporary art and vintage photography.
During the remodelling an 11th century Moorish clay oven was discovered, thought to be the oldest on the island, and this has now been lovingly incorporated into the hotel’s DINS restaurant for all to see.
The 33 bedrooms at El Llorenç Parc de la Mar are laid out over 3 floors, 13 of which enjoy a balcony. There are five room categories which include six junior suites and two very popular suites each offering balconies overlooking the city walls and out to the Bay of Palma.
All rooms are elegantly furnished with parquet flooring throughout, subtle lighting and cream and taupe linens and king-size, super comfortable beds. With all mod cons, you can even order room service from the comfort of your room from an iPad!
The crowning glory has to be the 360 degree views form the multilayered roof with its 12 metre infinity pool flanked with Balinese-style sunbeds. Disconnect from the hustle and bustle, stretch out and drink in that view with a cocktail or two!
During the warmer months the upper terrace is home to Chef Santi Taura’s Urbà Restaurant offering innovative fusion cuisine with stunning Mediterranean views.
There is also a heated indoor pool and and a blissful spa area with steam, sauna and treatment rooms.
I must not forget to mention the internal courtyard’s stunning ‘hanging’ garden. Very clever.
As a city centre hotel with historic charm, El Llorenç Parc de la Mar is the perfect base for those wishing to explore Palma on foot, close to all the sights and just a few minutes walk to the beach.
El Llorenç Parc de la Mar has cleverly brought together Palma´s past and present and created a fusion that would delight any traveller.
The is a sister hotel, El Viçenc de la Mar which sits right on the waterfront at Cala Molins in the north of the island. Perfect for a two centre holiday.

Something Different
The design element of this hotel is stunning. Moorish motifs have been worked into every nook and cranny of the hotel with painstaking detail.
From the halls of parquet flooring, the tiles in the bathrooms and of course the piéce de resistance is the pool and spa area on the lower ground floor which is exquisite.
Housing a 14 metre heated pool and treatment rooms working with products from Natural Bissé, this relaxing area offers a slice of calm in the heart of the city.
