Hotel Creu de Tau Art and Spa
Situated in Capdepera in the north east of Mallorca, Hotel Creu de Tau Art and Spa is special.
The owners, who are local, worked tirelessly to convert this 19th century convent and adjacent theatre into a luxury adults – only boutique hotel and what an impressive job they have done.
Built in the reign of King Jaume II as a fortress town, Capdepera has its hill-top castle still intact and can be admired from the hotel’s pool terrace as well as many of the rooms and suites.
The sandstone facade of the hotel, blends in seamlessly with its historical landscape and makes a striking first impression. There is a feeling of space throughout the public areas, which are adorned with an extensive art collection of paintings, sculptures and photographs from both local and international artists, many of which are for sale.
The bedrooms are set over two floors and divided into several categories from Classic Double to the Royal Suite. As with most historic buildings, they vary in size and layout but have all been tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. Marès stone floors and beamed ceilings are complimented with muted tones and accent pieces of furniture.
The interior designer, Cati Soler, has an excellent eye for what works well. Rooms are high-tech with touch screens for climate control, Bluetooth systems, and smart lighting.
Opt for one of the three Royal Suites and you could while away hours on your private terrace and enjoy stunning views of the Castell and Menorca beyond.
There are two pools at Hotel Creu de Tau Art and Spa, one outside flanked by sumptuous Bali beds and stunning views of Capdepera and one indoors in the very unique spa area.
A footbridge cleverly connects the upper floor of the hotel directly to the hillside gardens, leading to the pool terrace.
The hotel’s restaurant, Cova Negra, under the watchful eye of chef Pablo Tamarit from Valencia, is popular with both locals and guests. Having honed his skills at Lima’s Astrid & Gastón, one of Latin America´s best restaurants, you are guaranteed a superb dining experience.
Take time to relax, eat, luxuriate in the spa, stroll into Capdepera or visit the beautiful beach of Cala Agulla just 10 minutes away. The choice is yours.
