The weather in Mallorca is the most asked about topic on Google and a question I am asked about often !

In general the Mallorca climate is usually 10 degrees warmer year round than most Northern European countries and often much warmer. 

The days are longer because of its southerly position and this is particularly important in winter when the sun sets at about 6pm giving several more daylight hours. 

Month by month this is the weather you can expect and a guide about what to do when you visit.

January is one of the colder months to visit Mallorca, Balearics when the average temperature is about 10°C. 

However, highs of up to 18°C are not uncommon, with evening temperatures of about 5°C .

With just 6 days of rainfall on average it is still a great month to travel with average sunshine hours of 7 each day.

What is there to do in January in Mallorca?

The fiesta of the Three Kings takes place on the eve of 5th January and later in the month the Fiesta of Sant Antoni and San Sebastian in Palma;  all celebrating the rich history and traditions of the island.

February 2020 the Mallorca Daily Bulletin reported…´It was a particularly warm Sunday in Majorca this week, with temperatures more in keeping with the spring. In Puerto Pollensa, for example, the high at two o’clock in the afternoon was 25.8C ´!

One of the biggest fiestas of the year takes place in February, Carnival ! It takes places in towns and villages across the island for 3 days. February is also almond blossom time in Mallorca with endless breathtaking fields of blossoms across the island.

March is when the weather starts to warm up in Mallorca, Balearics when the average temperature is around 15 °C.

What is there to do in March in Mallorca?

This is the month that the coastal hotels all open after their short winter break. 

The weather in March is perfect for cycling and walking. With longer days of sunshine you can get some mileage under your belt. 

The Fira del Fang is a celebration of the art of pottery in Mallorca and takes place in March in the municipality of Marratxi just outside Palma and is a must for lovers of ceramics and the perfect opportunity to bring home a unique souvenir.

You can swim in the seas in April but it might be a bit bracing ! April is one of the best months to visit Mallorca, Balearics when the average temperature is 14°C.

What is there to do in April in Mallorca?

The fiesta of Semana Santa, Easter is a three day event in most towns and villages across the island. Some of the processions, and by far the most spine-tingling sight, feature the `capirotes´ tall, pointed conical hoods with eye-holes which serve to protect the privacy of each individual´s penitent.

Is Majorca warm in May ?

You can swim in the sea in May but it may still be a little cool depending on the day´s temperature.  May is one of the nicest months to visit Mallorca, Balearics, not too busy but definitely beach weather with an average temperature 17.5°C. 

Highs of up to 25°C are common and just 3 days of rainfall on average.  It is a great month to travel before larger numbers of visitors arrive on the island.

What is there to do in May in Mallorca?

It is time to head to the beach, but still cool enough in the morning to enjoy a mountain walk or cycle in the Serra de Tramuntana. One of the largest fiestas on the island takes place in Sóller in May, Es Firo, which lasts three days and is a re-enactment of a battle between the Moors and the Christians. Definitely not one to miss !

The beaches are filling up with swimmers and sunbathers. June is one of the warmer months to visit Mallorca, Balearics when the average temperature is 23°C. 

However, highs of up to 30°C are common. With just 2 days of rainfall on average in June in Mallorca it is still fantastic month to visit with 12 hours of daylight and sunshine. 

What is there to do in June in Mallorca?

The summer season is well and truly underway. The fiesta of Sant Juan takes place in June. All the beach clubs are open and the mid summer solstice is celebrated with nights of fire or Nit de Foc.

August is the hottest month to visit Mallorca, Balearics when the average temperature is just 25°C. 

However, in the last few years highs of up to 40°C have been recorded . With no rainfall and 12 sunshine hours every day you need to stay close to the water and keep cool.

August in Majorca is when the summer season is at its peak. Away from the beaches, the island has a calendar of events to suit all tastes from opera to pop concerts and live music concerts as well as traditional festivals.

September is the month when the locals wait for it to start cooling down. You can still swim in a sea that has been warmed for months. Average temperature is 21°C.  September is the new August , which is just too hot for some visitors. 

However, highs of up to 35 °C are common. With just 5 days of rainfall on average, it is a great month to travel with average sunshine hours of 12 each day.

The Festa de Vermer in Binissalem is a fiesta to celebrate the wine harvest and visitors arrive from all over to celebrate. The week ends with a grape throwing event which gets really messy !

Is Majorca warm in October  ?

With average temperatures of 21°C October has a similar climate to May. 

With 5 days of rainfall on average, if it does rain you may decide to enjoy a little shopping in Palma, take a cookery course or enjoy a spa day. Average sunshine hours in Mallorca in October is 8 hours each day.

What is there to do in October in Mallorca?

There is still plenty to see and do and the weather is still mostly beach weather. The last week of October is school holidays in many European counties and the beaches are very busy with everyone still splashing around in the sea.

Is Majorca warm in November?

November is when the days get a little shorter but the skies are still blue. Many of the beach hotels are closing. Once the sun sets the temperature gets cooler in Mallorca in the Balearics when the average temperature is just 14°C. 

However, highs of up 22°C are not uncommon, falling to lows of 9°C in the evening. 

With just 6 days of rainfall, it is still a great month for walking and cycling with average sunshine hours of 7 each day. 

 

What is there to do in November in Mallorca?

Time to see Palma light up for Christmas. Palma Christmas lights are magical. There is also a tapas fiesta, TaPalma, celebrating the culinary delights Palma has to offer. It is starting to get a little cooler, but still enjoying temperatures of around 19 degrees. This month is perfect walking weather.

Is Majorca warm in December ?

December is a special month in Mallorca, Balearics. The days are shorter but the skies are blue. You can still sit outside in short sleeves during the day but once the sun sets you need a warm jacket.

However, highs of up 20°C are not uncommon, falling to lows of 8°C in the evening. 

With 7 days of rainfall it is the wettest month but still offers 23 days with 7 hours of sunshine on average. 

What is there to do in December in Mallorca?

Spend Christmas and New Year in Majorca, Balearics. Palma is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe at Christmas time and the lights are spectacular.  There are lots of fabulous Christmas markets to visit. I have never anything other than a short sleeve t- shirt on Christmas Day !  

Mallorca also has perfect walking and cycling weather in December. 

Palma´s hotels are all open as are all the hotel restaurants offering gala lunches and dinners on Christmas Day. 

New Year in Palma is a great celebration with most of the hotels offering a Gala Meal and locals and visitors alike gather in Plaça Cort to hear the clock strike midnight and follow the tradition of eating a grape on each chime of the clock for the 12 months of the year to come.
