When private chef Piers Dawson, his wife Holly and their son Charlie arrived on Mallorca they created a bit of a buzz.

Up till then private chefs were usually associated with super yacht clientele in Palma rather than with a town in the Tramuntana like Sóller. But what a wonderful decision for themselves, for locals and visitors alike. Within a short period, they have established a following and reputation for devising menus and food you would only dream of in the best restaurants around the globe.

Put simply Piers Dawson is an extraordinarily gifted chef.

There are not many countries in the world where he hasn’t cooked and among those lucky enough to have enjoyed his cuisine are Presidents, Prime Ministers and pop stars.

When his young family arrived, Piers decided to swop flying time for foraging time and where better than Sóller.

Piers preferred method of cooking is in keeping with the Mediterranean lifestyle – informal, alfresco dining focusing on fresh local food, his menus combine seasonal produce and memorable flavours. Then he adds his magic!

In the busy summer months Piers and Holly offer private dining in the surroundings of your rented or owned villa. Menu options can range from canapés, celebratory lunches and dinners to bespoke multi-course tasting menus for a get together or special occasion.

Whilst there are numerous restaurants to choose from on the island, there can be nothing more memorable than having your own private chef arrive to prepare an unforgettable meal and for Holly to be your maître d for the evening. And no washing up!

You can probably tell by the way I am writing that I have been fortunate enough to dine at one of these pop-ups. Held at stunning locations in the valley of Sóller, Piers brings to life a wonderful dining experience for 14 lucky people.

Despite doing our best to keep it a secret, the word is out and islanders and visitors alike are travelling from far and wide to enjoy a place at the their table. Offering a set 7 course tasting menu and a bring your own Mallorcan wine arrangement,  this is an unmissable experience.
