Hotel Pleta de Mar (`pleta´meaning walled shelter for sheep) is the affectionate name given to this new luxury property situated in the north east corner of Mallorca. Originally coastal farmland owned by the same family for some 800 years, the construction of this new luxury property has been sympathetic to its location in every conceivable detail even ensuring the original walls of the sheepfold were kept intact and preserved.
Surrounded by nature and overlooking the Mediterranean sea, this is the fourth in a collection of hotels with it´s sister hotel just next door, Can Simoneta.
Enjoying the privilege of being able to build new the owners have been meticulous in their use of materials, dimensions and most importantly ensuring that this new property blends seamlessly into the landscape not be seen from the roadside or the sea.
The suites, which are set away from the main building, have been very sensitively and stylishly designed to incorporate traditional Mallorquin details such as single pitched roofs and reeds (or `canyas´) used in the ceilings, all creating a feeling of peace but with a distinctly modern touch.
The use of wood, natural stone and sea pebbles to surround the enormous freestanding bath, complete with chalk -white fabrics and outside showers all add to the heavenly feel.
The suites at Hotel Pleta de Mar are all single storey and have been laid out so as to preserve the quiet and privacy of each guest. The premium suites enjoy sea views, but as a low season traveler why not splash out, literally on the Grand Suite offering its own private garden, uninterrupted sea views and an outside pool.
Hotel Pleta de Mar has not just one but two infinity pools, complete with cabaña style beds. There is also a smaller heated spa pool and direct access to a private beach on foot.
The Foc Restaurant and Bar (meaning fire in Catalan) is set back from the main pool area and its signature is meat and fish just grilled as well as a wide selection of Mallorquin tapas and salads.
The food at Pleta and Can Simoneta next door is sublime, but if you can pull yourself away for one night then I highly recommend you dine out at Michelin Starred Es Moli den Bou just fifteen minutes away.
A visit to Hotel Pleta de Mar allows you to retreat from the outside world into a luxurious haven offering exceptional levels of service.
You can also stroll across to dine at the sister property, via the coastal path or the secret walkway. Check out this link for Special Offers at Hotel Can Simoneta .
Bringing the outside in and vice versa, whatever the weather. A first on the island is the outside gym, an open sauna, the option of spa treatments outside and the pièce de résistance the private outside showers in every suite, not far short of the Maldives experience without the long haul flight.
Surrounded by nature and living in nature. Discrete low rise suites dotted around the property allowing you to enjoy the rare silence.
Sandy paths wend their way to the seaview infinity pool, down to the beach or over to their sister property Can Simoneta. The attention to detail of this newly built hotel is outstanding from the art selection to the furniture detail, from the sofas in the the chill out area to the skylight in the bar.
Yet at the flick of a switch, when the weather turns cooler, the windows can close, the fires lit and you can enjoy the lighter brighter days without feeling cool. Return home having enjoyed a MallorcanTonic.
Breakfast, which is included in the room rate, is served between 08.00am -11.00 am in the Foc Restaurant and Bar. You will be spoilt for choice with warm and cold buffet and á la carte menu.
