A walk along the Bay of Palma will definitely be up there on memorable highlights of your stay in Palma. Hop on the No 15 Bus at Placa Espanya (opposite the train station, next to the large international newspaper kiosk). Your destination is either Ciutat Jardin (an hour´s gentle stroll back into Palma) or Portixol harbour (30 minute stroll back into Palma).
Once off the bus head toward to the seafront and you will see Palma with its majestic Cathedral in the distance and the walk that lies ahead. This has got to be one of the best seafront promenades in Europe. Take in the sea air, with the sun glinting off the sea, palm trees gently rustling in the breeze, and plenty of people-watching opportunities year round.
En route, be tempted by the array of eateries and coffee shops that now make up this once sleepy fishing neighbourhood. Sea-facing properties along the promenade are now eagerly sought after with apartments selling upwards of a million plus euros !
The old marina area of Es Molinar with it’s traditional Mallorcan fishing boats, llauts, is under renovation and will open later in 2023 with a sensitive refurbishment.
Benches along the way allow you to pause, take in the view of the occasional cruise ship passing in and out of the Bay of Palma and the sheer majesty of Palma Cathedral as it draws ever nearer.
