Originally founded in 1964, Palma Sport & Tennis Club was built under the watchful eye of architect Francesc Mitjans, designer of the famous Camp Nou football stadium in Barcelona. In need of some tender refurbishment after fifty years of service, who better to take on the job than the ever dependable Swedish couple Mikael and Johanna Landström of Hotel Portixol and Hotel Espléndido fame.
The ´new`club was unveiled in the summer of 2015 as the Palma Sport & Tennis Club which, as the name suggests, offers a lot more than just tennis.
Both inside and out the venue has been completed to an exceptionally high standard. Just a couple of minutes stroll from the Santa Catalina area of Palma it is easily accessible by foot or by car (there is a small carpark and on street parking).
So where to begin? Perhaps a workout in their state of the art gym which is fully equipped with the latest gear to fulfil your fitness needs. Or you may fancy joining one of their numerous classes offering everything from spinning, cross training, dance, pilates, hot yoga and aquagym and thats just for starters.
The tennis offering comprises five clay courts, including one centre court, all of which are flood lit. It is the ideal venue for international tournaments and has already hosted the Legends Cup and ATP Champions event and has been known to be frequented already by many of the world´s most famous players so you may be able to collect an autograph!
With a beautifully landscaped thermally heated outdoor swimming pool, you can enjoy your lengths year round or simply grab a sun lounger and take in the scene.
The spa offers Finnish, Turkish and infrared saunas as well as three treatment rooms for massage therapies and beauty treatments for that ‘all-round’ pampering experience.
To wind it down you may decide to book a treatment (at an extra charge ) with one of their experienced therapists. All the facilities are bright and spacious and enjoy natural light and in the changing rooms you are provided with lockers, towels and toiletries.
Feeling peckish? Then its time for lunch. A weekly changing three course set lunch menu (drinks extra) which is included in your Day Pass will not disappoint.
This week´s menu of ´Pea soup with egg or Azukis toast with hummus and smoked cod followed by grilled fish with red peppers or Iberian sirloin with timbale of aubergine` will get those tastebuds tingling. All rounded off with a yummy Banoffee pie in these chic and über cool surroundings.
