In the heart of the historic old town, Hotel Sant Francesc Singular, a handsome 1880 villa which has been remodelled into a magnificent luxury hideaway and sets the bar yet higher as one of the latest openings in Palma of chic boutique hotels.
Watched over by Sant Francesc and his Basílica and situated on a Plaça of the same name, you are minutes from Palma´s magnificent Cathedral.
As you enter the hotel, you are immediately struck by the complete feeling of space and welcomed by the friendliest of smiles from the reception staff. Looking around, your eyes are inevitably drawn to the ´Gone with the Wind´ style staircase just waiting to be glided down.
Set over three floors, every bedroom is different. Some offer high wood beamed ceilings, some with views across the square and others with views across the roof tops of the old town. Every one unique, singular. If you fancy pushing the boat out as a savvy off-seasoner you should consider the Sant Francesc Suite. At an enormous 60 sqm it is truly elegant and luxurious. Adorned with ceiling frescoes throughout which have been painstakingly renovated you will be sleeping with the past.
Its not everyday that you get to eat in a stable, but trust me when I tell you, this sensitive renovation of what is now the Quadrat Restaurant, is impressive, with just a nod to its past held on a plaque on the wall.
The restaurant spills out onto a shaded courtyard, open year round, thanks to the island’s mild climate.
The restaurant team, headed up by Alfonso Lillo, are passionate about food.
Alfonso, as head chef to the Qatari royal family, executive chef at The Cavendish in London and as ‘chef de partie’ at Heston Blumenthal´s The Fat Duck is exceptionally well qualified and you are in for a treat.
Breakfast served in the Quadrat Restaurant is a selection of fresh juices and pastries followed by all the classic breakfasts cooked to order.
At lunch you can choose from the ´a la carte´menu or the very reasonably priced (€25) Menu Mediodia, already very popular with the locals.
The evening gives you the chance to really spoil yourself and for Alfonso to showcase his talents with his six course ´Menu Degustation`.
Whether its to take a dip, relax on a lounger and read a book, or to enjoy a sun downer, the roof terrace really is the ´pièce de résistance`.
Breakfast, served in the Quadrant is a leisurely affair with a rare 4 hour window....7 am - 11 am
