Sa Creu Nova Art Hotel and Spa is a welcome addition to the stable of luxury boutique hotels on the island of Mallorca. This oasis of calm, situated in the South East of the island slap bang in the centre of the historic town of Campos, is a great location and still just 25 minutes drive to the capital, Palma.
Just minutes from the sea and some of Mallorca´s most famous beaches and close enough to visit captivating Cabrera by boat from Colonia de Sant Jordi, you couldn’t be better situated.
The renovation of this townhouse is genius. Cool contemporary neutrals, stone, wood and glass create the perfect setting to completely unwind. Looking out to the landscaped gardens and swimming pool or taking in the views sipping a cocktail from your terrace or balcony, what could be more chilled?
The 16 bedrooms and one suite are arranged across two buildings set over two floors creating a courtyard effect with the rooms overlooking the pool and gardens.
Decorated as they are in a natural palette, every room feels spacious and sophisticated. Particular attention was paid at the design stage to allowing as much natural light into the rooms as possible and they have done a super job.
As a luxury low season traveller why not splash out on their Grand Suite? Laid out as a duplex offering over 100 sq.metres of space with the bedroom upstairs and two private courtyard terraces, you can really spread out. Plus you have you own private chef!
There is even a small fitness area with views of the garden if you feel you need to work off some calories!
And you will, when you discover this hotel host not just one but two fabulous restaurants! The first, Tess de Mar is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which you can enjoy either inside or outside on the terrace overlooking the beautiful Mediterranean garden.
Their second restaurant, Kairiku, is a little bit special as you will read below.
Open throughout most of the year apart from a short break in January, Sa Creu Nova really is a super Mediterranean escape whatever the Mallorca weather.
…Sleep, swim, eat chill and repeat !
The artworks on display comprise an impressive contemporary collection of European artists.
For example, Luca Monzani, originally from Turin but now calling Mallorca home, concentrates on romantic and dramatic artworks such as the bull running which is on display in the Grand Suite. Sculptor Fernando Suárez who works mainly in iron and bronze is fascinated by the human body and this example below, to be found in the lobby shows man forced to his limits.
Distributed throughout the hotel´s rooms and common spaces, you can enjoy a range of pieces which add another layer of interest and sophistication to this adults only hotel.
Kairiku Restaurant adopts the Japanese principle of ¨omakase¨( I trust you ) referring to the concept of your host creating the menu. Chef Cesar León chooses fresh produce daily to create an elaborate and unforgettable dining experience.
Offering 10 courses paired with a wide selection of sakes, teas and Japanese cocktails, and seating just 10 at the table, this sharing table in the old `cave´ is another first on the island and set to be hugely popular. Book early to avoid disappointment!
Tess de Mar serves breakfast, which is included in the price of the room between 08.00am - 11.00am. It is buffet style and also offers a hot breakfast menu.
Open also for lunch offering a Menu del Diá for just €26.90 for three courses. You can dine inside or out on the terrace overlooking the pool, weather permitting.
In the evening there is an `a la carte´ menu offering the freshest of local ingredients.
Kairiku Japanese Restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday in the evening and offers a 10 course set menu with drinks included for €70.00 per person.
