Tucked away on the northeast coast of Mallorca, this luxurious hotel sits majestically above the cliffs and bay of Canyamel offering spectacular views out to the glittering Mediterranean sea. Once a private finca in the late 19th century, Can Simoneta and its a cluster of original sandstone outbuildings have been lovingly restored into tranquil haven for adults only. As the main gate slides open, you are welcomed by an immaculately planted avenue of ancient olive trees.
You will walk through a low planted garden with cascading wall of water to the reception area, which is open plan, with the winter lounge and fireplace leading out to that amazing view that keeps clients coming back time after time.
Floor to ceiling windows open onto a terrace offering you a vista of perfectly manicured rolling lawns which are dotted with the occasional pine providing shade for the sunbeds.
Hammocks sway in the breeze and in every conceivable hidey-hole you will discover tables and chairs or lounging sofas beckoning you to sit and pause to drink in the views.
If just chilling is your thing, take up a position on a sunbed by the pool ( which is heated – a real bonus for early and late season travellers). So no excuse for not getting those lengths in!
Each of the bedrooms have been furnished to a high standard with an easy-on-the-eye palette of neutral beiges and creams. Some have a terrace, others a view out to the countryside or sea but, if you want a treat, why not book the Superior Suite in the small house beside the sea with private terrace and jacuzzi or the Grand Suite Neptuno, a cute little cottage with it´s own pool, terraces and garden facing directly out to the sea.
If you need a workout, then there is a ´glass-walled` gym giving you one of the most amazing views, or if you want to slow things right down, then you can take a walk though the gardens to the spa room for a treatment or just plop yourself into their cliff-side jacuzzi.
Can Simoneta also now offers a half board shared dining experience since the opening of its sister hotel literally next door Hotel Pleta de Mar.
If you are a real foodie then you might be interested to visit Tomeu Caldenteys´s Michelin starred restaurant Es Moli de´n Bou just a short drive away.
The Beach House, which was a later addition to the original property offers nine further rooms, and is accessed through the rolling lawns down a sloping footpath.
It almost feels as though you are visiting a friends grand new villa as you enter the lounge area.
There is a dining table piled high with all sorts of goodies such as fruit, hot and cold beverages and wine and beer which you can help yourself to. A roaring fire in the cooler months or an open terrace with loungers for the warmer months offer a social area where you can meet fellow guests. A truly unique experience of a ´private villa with rooms´within a hotel. It even has it´s own swimming pool.
It has to be the cliff -top position with uninterrupted views of the turquoise Mediterranean sea and the opportunity of direct access to the sea to take a dip by winding your way down the carved steps to the rocky cove.
With the recently opened `sister´ property the luxury Pleta de Mar you can now walk along the coastal path or use the secret walkway to inter- dine . Have little look.. Pleta de Mar
