Can Verdera Hotel, sitting just a pebble´s throw from the Plaza in Fornalutx, arguably one of the most picturesque villages on the island, this stone clad traditional Mallorcan village house holds many surprises.
Lovingly restored in the 1990´s, over a period of five years by a Belgian, William Pehle, this 150 year old house has been transformed into this charming hotel we see today.
Set at the foot of the Tramuntana Mountains, Can Verdera Hotel is all about letting your soul catch up with your body.
Inside you will find a light bright `entrada ´typical of many of the older houses in the valley together wiht modern design and contemporary art (paintings are exhibited in association with a local art gallery).
There are plenty of places to relax, including the Moorish courtyard with it´s towering palm trees, or the beautiful garden and pool, which with their fabulous panorama of the Tramuntana mountains.
The swimming pool is with its sunny terrace and the sound of silence makes this an ideal place to retreat from the world.
All the rooms are spacious, three of which open up onto the garden with patio doors and the aroma of bougainvillea. Each offers modern and light decor and furnishings.
As a low season traveller why not treat yourself to the vast penthouse suite with its enormous bath described below.
Its the Penthouse. This has to be the pièce de résistance. A two storey suite which is a real treat if you fancy splashing out.
With the views, terrace and 25metre square bathroom and the lounge and kitchen, this is really a bijou apartment in the sky.
When you first enter the hotel, no one could image that it could offer up such an enormous magnificent garden.
As you wend your way from the breakfast terrace upwards, to the pool terrace through the immaculately and lovingly planted garden with its exotic plants and towering palms and then still further to the `lounge in the sky´, you will be rendered speechless by the most unbelievable view downwards into the Sóller valley.
Grab yourself a gin and tonic, or whatever is your tipple, sit down and take in the scene.
Breakfast is included in your room rate and is served on the garden terrace between 08.00am - 11.00am
Snacks and tapas are served during the day and there is a lounge and terrace bar.
