Where to get the Best breakfast views. Breakfast, or desayuno as we know it in Mallorca, is the most important meal of the day, particularly when we are away as it gives us a chance to slow things down.
In towns and cities, there has been a trend towards Hotels charging separately for breakfast which is good and bad news.
The benefit of a breakfast included in the room rate is one of the most important amenities for some. For others, who fancy a little exploring, it gives the opportunity in Palma to try breakfast elsewhere.
A short walk from the old town, heading east along the Passeo Maritimo, you will arrive at the Hotel Portixol, a small boutique hotel, privately owned by a Swedish family.
It was the first hotel I stayed in on Mallorca some 10 years ago and was the catalyst in the gentrification of this harbour area, once a small fishing port.
Breakfast is a feast of homemade breads and jams, freshly squeezed orange juice, yogurts and meats. Included is a hot á la carte´course if you have the time to linger.
At €22 a head, it is a fair price for such a spread of delicious food and such a marvellous view.
Catering for new parents and late risers alike (served from 07.30am to 11.30am), you can choose to sit outside and enjoy the harbour and the best breakfast views imaginable or inside overlooking the decked pool listening to subtle cool vibes. The hotel has just produced it´s 7th album mix!
The staff are a delight and will welcome you like an old friend.
Boutique Hotel Calatrava
Requiring a quick negotiation of the tangle of streets that are the old town, this perfectly positioned hotel with a 5th floor terrace commanding spectacular sweeping Bay views is another excellent choice.
You can choose select from the buffet or á la carte´and they even have a smoothie menu.
Cost of breakfast to non resident guests is €19.25 and best to call for a booking.
Whatever the Mallorca weather you will be ready to start your day…
