Autumn in Mallorca : Seven things to pack.

Autumn in Mallorca doesn´t need much planning. Back at work but not ready to accept shorter days or kicking through leaves just yet? Mallorca is the ideal destination in autumn with the locals referring to the season as  `primavera d´estiu´ (spring of summer !). So here are some quick packing tips for a short (or long) break in Mallorca this autumn.

Sunglasses
Definitely. Autumn in Mallorca in the early part of the season is balmy, offering blue skies and bright sunshine so don´t get caught without sunnies.

A swimsuit
Early autumn often means a swim in the sea. In the shallower beaches, for example Sa Rapita in the south east of the island, it is not unusual to be swimming into early November. If you have booked to stay in one of the MallorcanTonic´s hotels with an indoor pool such as The Nakar Hotel or The Nixe Palace then a swimsuit is of course essential!  http://mallorcantonic.com/deals/

Wine goggles

Mallorca´s grape harvest takes place in September. Binissalem becomes the centre of festivities with it´s Festa de Vermar, on the last day of which you can taste the local wines and if you really want to get messy you can even participate in the grape battle or the barefoot grape-crushing competitions !

A light jacket for the evening.
Autumn in Mallorca can bring daytime temperatures of 20-25 degrees, but evenings are cooler especially in the mountains, so you will need a warm layer for the evenings.

A good book.

Reward yourself for choosing low season by bringing a few good books. All the time you have saved not queuing or waiting in traffic now belongs to you so use it wisely. Sit, relax and read.

Walking boots.
Early autumn can be a mix of beach and boots. Enjoy a morning walk either in town or in the mountains and cool off at the beach in the afternoon as the day warms up.

An extra bag to check-in for the return journey .

Without the heat and the crowds of summer, you have the time to shop!  Whether you go for the liquid option of a couple of bottles of your favourite wine, or extra virgin olive oil, handspun linen or hand painted ceramics, you will be spoiled for choice.
